The Big Dig Day
Saturday 16 April, 2016
Every spring, hundreds of volunteers pull on their wellies and head outside to help a community garden get ready for the new growing season. This year Captial Growth are welcoming more volunteers through their London Grows scheme and gardens are gearing up to host new and old volunteers, ready to shovel compost, build trellises, plant seedlings and enjoy a hard day's work in the company of friends and neighbours.
How to dig in & volunteer

New gardens are constantly being added so make sure you are signed up to receive our news to get updated information.
The Big Dig in other towns and cities
The Big Dig started life as an event run by Capital Growth in 2012 to engage volunteers in their local food-growing space. It was also funded as a nationwide project, managed by Sustain, recruiting 7,500 new volunteers to take part in community gardening.
In 2015, 40 different towns and cities took part in the Big Dig Day with 190 community gardens opening their gates and asked the public to come down, see what's growing and get involved.
The network continues to work with cities in the UK. Find out more on www.bigdig.org.uk
