Challenge

Build a LEGO Marble Maze

This is a really simple challenge, and is great fun, and for all ages. You can beat the maze and test it yourself, or you can build it to challenge friends and family.

For kids this is a great activity as you learn about the idea of testing something, and then making it easier or harder depending on how it performs. The idea of knowing your first model doesn’t have to be your final model gives you freedom to be creative, knowing if it doesn’t work you can adjust it afterwards,

The Activity

  • Get a baseplate, some Lego bricks and a marble

  • Create a path using your bricks, making sure you have a start and finish point.

  • Make sure your marble fits the path

  • Once you have build the maze, test it and then see if you need to rebuild it again to make it easier or harder

  • You can add dead ends into your maze to make it harder to get to the end

  • Think about how you can theme your maze, will it be an ice palace, or a maze through a robot planet? Maybe you can add a Alice in Wonderland theme, or will it be a jungle setting

Don’t forget to share photos of what puzzles you come up with either via using the hashtag #brightonbricksbuild on Twitter or Instagram, or comment on our Facebook post, or email me at nick@brightgreenpenguin.com and I can add it to the #brightonbricksbuildgallery
