Oatopia - Organic Porridge & Homemade Flapjacks outside Brighton Station

and the book I am donating is from World Book Night, a initiative which encourages people to read http://www.worldbooknight.org/

I will be going around Brighton handing out the packages, and any packages left over I will be giving them out over the following weeks, months.

So far inside the care packages I have:

Deodorant, Toothbrush, Toothpaste, Water, Snack Bars, Wet Wipes, Socks, Space Blankets, Water Ponchos, Toilet Paper and w have Sani Products as well.

And of course we have Last Bus to Coffeeville by J Paul Henderson.

One possible idea is to create a homeless library, where we can create a network of books, which can be shared around. So if anyone has any ideas / suggestions on how we could start this please let me know

The Rucksack Project: 2015

The Rucksack Project is not a charitable organisation but a movement, which has spread across the world born out of a simple idea to help people sleeping rough on the streets during the cold winter months.

Anyone can help, anyone can take part as the project is all about helping the many doing a little thing to make a big difference in the world.

It is a very simple idea:
Go to charity shops
Get a rucksack, sleeping bag, flask, spoon, gloves, hat, fleece, undies, socks and extra food
Take it out and give it to a homeless person

Check the Rucksack Project website for more details as well as details about events happening

Hackney Winter Night Shelter is Looking for Trustees

Hackney Winter Night Shelter is Looking for Trustees

Hackney Winter Night Shelter provides a warm welcome and dinner bed and breakfast and support for homeless guests who would otherwise be out on the streets during the coldest winter months. The shelter is open from November – April.

During the season we work with guests and throughout the year our link workers continue to assist them with finding more stable accommodation.

We are looking for additional trustees for our associated charity “Hackney Doorways”.

For information on what being a trustee entails and how to apply, please write to trusteejobs@hwns.org.uk
