Charity Auction

Leon Collyer has set up a LEGO auction on eBay raising money for three charities on behalf of a friend who lost their teenage son. You can check out the auctions on eBay via the link below,

His username is midtwentiethcentury

The charities are

You Raise Me Up offering emotional, financial & practical support to families who lose a young adult aged 16-24 years old

Cats Protection UK’s largest cat welfare charity

East Sussex Wildlife Rescue & Ambulance Service deals with calls from members of the public and other animal welfare organisations to provide a front-line rescue service for wildlife casualties

You can read about Leon’s reason for the auction on his eBay page, which I am sharing bellow

“I am listing a huge number of LEGO sets over the coming weeks on behalf of a close friend who lost her teenage son Harry in a tragic accident. As an AFOL (adult fan of LEGO) myself, I offered to sort through his huge collection of sets to ensure they were all complete, and ready to pass on to a new owner; which has taken many weeks to date and I am only half way through! I’m starting with his Star Wars sets and will then list the many others by theme, including LOTR, Hobbit, Marvel, DC, Creator, Ideas, Simpsons and more. So please save me as a seller and keep an eye on my listings every week. ALL profits will go to the charities listed below, unless this is not indicated on the listing.

To save time listing dozens of sets, the title and photos form the entire description of the set being listed, so you can assume it is in very good condition and complete, unless otherwise stated. Although I’ve cleaned every set whilst checking them, there may still be dust in some places, so please bear that in mind. If any stickers are peeling off, I’ve photographed the affected areas. If the box isn’t referred to in the title or photos, it isn’t included.

There are some very desirable sets being listed, so we appreciate that bidders will aim to purchase several sets, in which case we will send an invoice with a combined postage cost. Payment is to be made within 2 days of the auction ending, so please do not bid if you haven’t got the means to pay within that timeframe. Underbidders will be offered the item if payment isn’t received within 48 hours.

To encourage the best sale price and therefore the most money for the charities, all sets will be listed with no reserve and starting at 99p. Offers to ‘buy it now’ will NOT be replied to.

Here are a few words from Harry’s mum:

Harry Rock, Forever 13 17.06.03 - 20.03.17

This LEGO set is one of a very special collection belonging to Harry. Harry was a huge LEGO lover from an early age and spent many hours methodically piecing together the creations listed here on eBay. It’s been difficult to let these sets go knowing he’s touched each individual piece. It has been four years since the tragic day Harry left for Heaven; I feel it’s now time his LEGO brought joy to someone new. The majority of his collection was bought with his savings or were birthday and Christmas presents. All money raised from the sale of Harry’s LEGO will be divided three ways. A third going to each of his two favourite charities, Cats Protection and East Sussex WRAS. The final third will be donated to ‘You Raise Me Up’ who have and continue to support me emotionally since that day. Thank you for bidding and I hope the LEGO brings you the great enjoyment it brought Harry. Amanda, Harry’s Mum.”
